Obituary of Mae Bierwagen
Mae Bierwagen was born on September 6, 1931 at Goodeve, Saskatchewan. She was a daughter of Mike and Katie (nee Sereda) Elash. Mae attended Nanton School, which was located north of Goodeve and helped her parents on the family farm. She remained on the farm until June 1, 1952 when she married Ernest Bierwagen at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The couple moved to Ernest's homestead in the Fenwood district for a while. Later they purchased their own land in the Fenwood district and built themselves a new home. Mae took an active part in farming, during chores, milking cows, feeding chickens and pigs. Later Mae worked in housekeeping at the motels in Melville then worked at the imperial 400 in Yorkton in housekeeping, laundry and supervising. She also sold Avon for eight years and Rawleigh products for four years. Mae was a member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic farm Church. She enjoyed playing ball and was the back -catcher for the team, horse racing, gardening, looking after flowers, bowling, knitting, reading and dancing.
Mae entered her eternal rest on Monday, November 5, 2018 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville at the age of 87 years.
Predeceased by her parents, her husband Ernest; Brothers, Anthony and John; Sisters, Marie, Anne Misko, Eva Kruda, Rose Misko and Nettie Stecyk. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Carman (Charlene) of Melville and their children Stacey (Mike) and Tracey (Steve) and their daughter, Jordyn; daughter, Laverne (Stewart) Nicholson of Regina; as well as niece, nephews, relatives and friends.
