Obituary of John Krywulak

KRYWULAK - Mr. John Krywulak, beloved husband of the late Hazel Krywulak, formerly of the Beckenham district entered his eternal rest on November 6, 2018 at Canora Gateway Lodge with his family by his side. John J. Krywulak was born on July 28, 1924 to John and Kathryn (Katie) Krywulak of the Beckenham District. He completed his Grade 7 education at Bon Accord School. John quickly learned the skills of farming at an early age, apprenticing for his Dad. He grew up with a family of 8 other siblings. John met his lifetime partner, Hazel Kozun in 1952. They were married on May 24, 1953 in Ituna, Saskatchewan and lived most of their life on the Krywulak family homestead in the Beckenham district. They were blessed with three children: Mervin, Teresa (Terri) and Bernadette. Together, John and Hazel worked hard on the farm providing for their family. For many years, along with grain farming, their love for animals led them to milking cows and raising pigs and chickens. Living on the farm required many skills and talents, which John acquired through his self-taught training. He challenged himself and became a skilled carpenter, mechanic and welder to help out on the farm. John felt a lot of satisfaction in sharing his God given talents with everyone else. John cherished family time. He enjoyed parties and entertaining his guests by telling stories and adding a joke or two. He was known for his leadership in the singing of Ukrainian party songs. He was also gifted as a spontaneous head speaker giving many speeches. He took much pride and fulfillment with his family's accomplishments. His strong faith in the church helped him overcome many hurdles in life. John resided at Canora Gateway Lodge for the final three and a half years of his life. Predeceased by his wife Hazel; parents John and Katie; brothers Metro and Peter; sisters Eva Luchyshyn, Mabel Fedyk and Sophie Rodych; in-laws Maxim and Donia Kozun. To cherish his memory, son Mervin (Shelley) Krywulak of Ituna, their children Kimberley and her son Kage of Regina & BJ (Gail Wilson) of Swift Current; daughter Teresa (Wayne) Denesuik of Saskatoon, their daughter Kelsey; daughter Bernadette (Brian) Pryhitka of Saskatoon, their sons Austin & Tyson; brother, Bill (Sylvia) Krywulak; sisters Mary Byblow, Rose (Dan) MacLean & Olga Kozun; sister-in-law, Jean Krywulak. Prayers were held on Monday, November 12, 2018 and the Funeral Liturgy on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 , both at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Rev. Father Basil Malowany as the Celebrant. The epistle reader was Kim Krywulak and the cross bearer was Kelsey Denesuik. The responses were led by Ladmer Moskal, Heidi Spilchuk and Wayne Boczulak. Honorary bearers were everyone who knew and loved John. The interment took place in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Gerry Smysnuik, Laverne Krywulak, Daniel Kozun, BJ Krywulak, Austin Pryhitka and Tyson Pryhitka serving as the casket bearers.
