Obituary of Delores Elaine Lipoth

Delores was born near Langenburg, SK on February 17, 1938 to Louis and Josephine (Scherloski) Bergman. Delores lived in a two-story farmhouse that she often talked about and that later became her computer background picture. She attended elementary school at Hohenlohe School in Langenburg, high school in Lebret and then Normal School (Teachers College). Delores enjoyed playing fastball as a young woman, something that both of her daughters also participated in. She was also an alum of the University of Saskatchewan where she received her Bachelor of Arts with a major in history. This interest in history, particularly American history, continued throughout her life. During her early years as a teacher, she roomed with her friend, Bernadette – this was when she met Bernadette’s brother, Aloysius. He clearly made an impression, and on November 11, 1967, she married Aloysius Lipoth in Melville, SK. They lived in Regina before settling on the Lipoth family farm in the Waldron area where Delores and Aloysius built the house that they lived in for nearly 50 years. Delores continued as a substitute teacher into the 1980s. She farmed with her husband, Aloysius during this time and could be found doing everything from tax returns to driving the grain truck during harvest. She also was a distributor for Successful Living Christian books for around 20 years. Delores and Aloysius had two children – Sarah and Becky. Delores enjoyed spending time with her family during heated game nights, weekend mass in Grayson or Melville and popcorn & movie nights. She also loved the outdoors and went cross country skiing around the farm and skating on the dugout in the winter with her family. Delores spent a good amount of time at the ball diamonds, chauffeuring her children around and making friendships with the other softball parents. Delores had many hobbies and could frequently be found working on a word puzzle, putting together a jigsaw puzzle, playing the organ, reading a book, tending to her garden, and canning vegetables. She was also an avid Toronto Blue Jays, Green Bay Packers and Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, and enjoyed discussing various questionable coaching decisions. Delores rarely missed a Jays game on television and was able to see the Blue Jays in both Toronto and Boston. This trip to Boston combined her interest in American history with her love of the Blue Jays. Delores also travelled to other places, including a major tour of Europe and family trips to such places as Minnesota, Minot, Chicago, Yellowstone, and Victoria, BC. Delores had a soft place in her heart for her pets: Rufus, Bowser and Colby among other dogs, numerous cats, and of course her beloved house cats “Mama” cat, Snapper, and Noah. When Delores saw Noah on CTV news, she immediately knew that he was her cat despite his many health concerns and got him that day. She had no qualms about giving Noah his medication 3 times a day. Delores spent much quality time in the past few years with either Noah or Snapper (or both) on her lap, giving them lots of belly rubs. Delores was predeceased by her parents Louis and Josephine Bergman, sister Patricia (Art) Simmonds, and brother Kenneth Bergman. She leaves to mourn her passing and carry on her memory: husband Aloysius Lipoth, daughters Sarah Lipoth and Becky Lipoth (Meagan Onstad), brothers Clifford (Bev) Bergman and Dennis (Debbie) Bergman, and sister Evelyn Stewart (John Sikora), numerous nieces and nephews, and many other friends and family who knew her well.
