Obituary of Ruth Laube
LAUBE - Following a brief illness Mrs. Ruth Laube (Dutz) passed away on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. Ruth is survived by her brother Louis Dutz of Springside; sisters Esther Heppner (Kelowna), Grace Nygren (Regina), Minnie Pohl (Kelowna) and Lenore Nygren (Chilliwack); sister-in-law Gert Dutz (Kelowna) and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents William & Minnie (Wolfe) Dutz, her husband Egan, sisters Hedwig, Cecilia, Arlene, Jean; brother Henry; niece Sundi and sister-in-law Alyce Laube. Ruth was born January 13, 1919 on the farm in the Whitesand area where she grew up and received her education. At the age of 19 she travelled to Gibsons, BC, helping her sister and brother-in-law in their store. In 1940 she worked at Boeing Aircraft in Vancouver along with her 2 sisters until the war ended. Ruth returned to Springside where she married Egan Laube on November 11, 1944. Their farm was a gathering place for family and friends, boasting a miniature golf course which everyone enjoyed. Ruth loved sports, winning trophies in horseshoes and curling. After Egan passed away, Ruth sold the farm and moved into the Senior's Heritage Place in Springside. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Family Worship Centre in Yorkton with Pastor Gerald Wagner officiating. The pianist, Jeanette Kriger led in the singing of the hymns, "When The Roll is Called Up Yonder", "Just a Closer Walk With Thee", "O That Will Be Glory". A Trio, Crystal Derrow, Grace Goltz, Geraldine Goltz sang "Beyond the Sunset". The scripture reading was given by Jackie & Kim Miller. The eulogy was presented by Karen Miller. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Mark at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Donn Laube, Marlon Milbrandt, Ed Shindle, Grant Heppner, Clayton Miller and Wayne Laube serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Ruth may be made to the Family Worship Centre as gifts of remembrance.
