DUMONT - Franklin Dumont of The Pas formerly of the Okanese First Nation in Saskatchewan passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family's love and warmth on August 4, 2011 at St. Anthony's General Hospital in The Pas. Franklin Wilfred Dumont was born on April 16, 1933 at Peepeekisis Colony Hospital to William and Rose Dumont, the second child of 14 and their first son. He is survived by: Joseph "Dougan" Dumont, Monica "Mona" Wallace, Anita "Squaw" McLeod, Bernadette "Bunny" Cote, Florence "Iodine" (John) Constant, Eli Dumont, Theresa "Odie" (Art) Walker, Pauline (Louis) Personius, Donna Dumont and special cousin Patrick "Wahoo" Desnomie, Auntie Elizabeth McKay, Sister in Laws: Cecily Brass, Doris Dumont, Debbie Pelletier, and four generations of nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. Throughout his life, Uncle Frank wore many hats: he was an industrial painter by trade at Manfor but he was also a cowboy, a coach, a musician, a hunter, an artist, a fisherman, a lover of nature and horses, a storyteller, a plumber, an athlete, an intellect, and sometimes a fighter, but only for what was right. But most of all, he was our beloved Uncle. Later in his life, Frank returned to Manitoba where he spent many years living with his niece, Patricia, her husband, David, and her children, Ashley, Brittany and Dustin, and they are forever grateful for the time they had with him. His kindness, generosity and friendship endeared him to many. As a result he became known as "UNCLE" to virtually everyone that met him. One of Uncle Frank's many gifts was being able to see the good in people, treating everyone with respect, compassion and dignity. When you stopped by his house, you were always welcomed inside with a chair at the table, a cup of coffee and good conversation that would last long into the night. All of us who knew and loved Uncle Frank will forever cherish and celebrate his life. He leaves a shining example of a life lived well and we know that he travels with peace onto the next stage of his journey. But for those of us who remain behind, we are left wishing for one more joke, one more story, one more song played on his guitar, one more of his smiles, one more wink, just one more moment with our dear Uncle Frank. Predeceased by: Parents: William and Rose Dumont, Sisters: Dorothy Kohorst, Katherine Dumont. Brothers: Wilfred "BoJack" Brass and John "Johnny" Dumont, Nieces: Rose "Sissy" Constant, Alexis McLeod, and Nephews: Kenny McLeod Jr., Jonathan Personius, David Brass and Riel Nasecapow; brother in laws: William Kohorst, Jim Wallace, Kenny McLeod and Edward Cote. A Prayer Vigil was held on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 from the Okanese Learning Centre. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 from the Okanese Learning Centre with Rev. Fr. Wojciech Wojtkowiak, OMI as the Celebrant assisted by Sister Bernadette Feist OSU. After one last ride with the horses interment followed in the Mary Immaculate Cemetery with Allan "Nipper" Constant, Rodney McLeod, David Walker, Edward "Beaver" Dumont, Edward Cote, William Dumont, Kevin "Duck" Personius and Louis "Bigman" Personius serving as the casketbearers.
